Between August 29 and September 1, ISET’s Salome Gelashvili attended the XV EAAE Congress “Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems: Balancing between Markets and Society” which took place in Parma, Italy.
The Congress is organized once every three years and gathers academics, scholars, practitioners, stakeholders, and policymakers dealing with agricultural issues. This year’s meeting was dedicated to the food industry, and the participants discussed the most critical issues characterizing both the agriculture and food industries. Paper and poster presentations, organized panels, and plenary sessions focused on such topics as Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), food policy, value chains, price transmission and volatility, land regulations, choice experiments, and many other topics emphasizing the most concerning issues for society.
Salome Gelashvili presented the results of her research on the topic of measuring food price volatility in Georgia. The research focused on three food commodities (wheat flour, potato, and maize flour) and was aimed at measuring the volatility in their prices and identifying the major drivers of price volatility.
The presentation was followed by interesting questions and a lively discussion.
