Monday, 24 February, 2025

Giorgi Papava, Lead Economist and Practice Head for private sector development policy at ISET Policy Institute, represented Georgia at the prestigious International Scientific Conference "Distributed Profit Taxation – Polish and worldwide perspective" on December 9, 2024, at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics in Poland.

Mr. Papava participated in two key sessions during the conference. In the first session on "Economic consequences of taxing distributed profits," he joined experts from Estonia, Latvia, and Poland to discuss the impact of this taxation model. Later, he contributed to another session on "The Future of Corporate Income Taxation," sharing Georgia's experience and perspectives alongside international specialists from the Tax Foundation, American Enterprise Institute, and various European academic and governmental institutions.

The conference evaluated the first four years of Poland's implementation of a distributed profits taxation system (commonly known as the "Estonian model") and explored its future applications both in Poland and globally. The event highlighted findings from economic research conducted by the Warsaw School of Economics and the US-based Tax Foundation.

Daniel Bunn, President and CEO of the Tax Foundation, delivered the keynote address, bringing an additional international perspective to the discussions.

The participation of ISET Policy Institute in this high-level conference underscored Georgia’s potential to contribute to international policy discussions and provided an opportunity to share insights on tax policy development in the Eastern Partnership region.
