Gigla Mikautadze, the manager of ISET’s “ReforMeter” project, was invited by the International Monetary Fund to the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF which took a place in Washington D.C. October 9-14. The participants of the event discussed the current trends in the global economy, government policies, and strategies for poverty reduction.

In the world of the 21st century, the number of people living without electricity in their homes is 1.3 billion. Even among those who have access, many do not own basic assets such as refrigerators, motorized transport, or washing machines. However, it is anticipated that over the next several decades, wide-scale poverty alleviation programs, as well as continued economic growth, will lift the incomes of many of the world’s poor.

For over a decade, ISET has produced MA graduates whose experience, knowledge, and expertise have allowed them to pursue successful careers across the world. Some stayed in academia, and went on to earn further degrees in the United States and Europe; others moved into public service or the private sector, both at home and abroad, actively working towards regional development or establishing successful careers overseas.

მთელი მსოფლიო ინტენსიურად არის გადართული ტექნოლოგიურ ინოვაციისადმი სწრაფვაზე. არც საქართველოა ამ მხრივ გამონაკლისი. ადგილობრივი უნივერსიტეტები ცდილობენ, შექმნან ფაბ-ლაბები (ფაბრიკაციის ლაბორატორიები – მცირე ზომის სახელოსნოები, სადაც ადამიანს ციფრული ფაბრიკაციის საშუალება ეძლევა), მთავრობამ კი დააარსა საქართველოს ინოვაციებისა და ტექნოლოგიების სააგენტო, რათა ხელი შეუწყოს სტარტაპების და ტექნოლოგიური კომპანიების შექმნას.

უცხოელი სტუდენტების რაოდენობა მთელ მსოფლიოში სტაბილურად იზრდება. სულ უფრო მეტი სტუდენტი ამჯობინებს, განათლება სამშობლოს ფარგლებს გარეთ მიიღოს. განათლების ინტერნაციონალიზაცია მთავარ როლს ასრულებს დღევანდელი საგანმანათლებლო სისტემების განვითარებაში. საერთაშორისო სტუდენტების მნიშვნელობა კი სცდება ეკონომიკაზე მოკლევადიან ფინანსურ ზემოქმედებას. მათი როლი განუზომელია სოციალურ დაახლოებასა და საერთაშორისო კავშირების ჩამოყალიბებაში.
