Development of Methodology for Child-Rights-Based Budget Analysis
Status: Ongoing
Project Milestones: Start date: 01.01.2025 End Date: 31.08.2025

The project, Development of Methodology for Child-Rights-Based Budget Analysis, aims to create a systematic approach for analyzing public budgets in Georgia through the lens of child rights. Its objective is to ensure that public financial decisions prioritize children’s needs, promote equity, and align with international standards such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Under the project, a tailored methodology will be developed to assess both direct and indirect spending on children at central and municipal levels. Two pilot budget analyses will be conducted in selected municipalities, followed by training sessions to equip stakeholders with the skills needed for practical application. Lessons learned from these pilots will refine the methodology and guide the institutionalization of child-centered budgeting in Georgia.

This initiative not only addresses current gaps in tracking child-related expenditures but also establishes a scalable framework for integrating child rights into public finance management, ultimately driving more equitable and child-friendly governance across the country.
