In August 2025, the average cost of cooking one standard portion of Imeretian khachapuri stood at 6.76 GEL, reflecting a 5.8% increase compared to July 2025. On an annual basis, the price rose by 9.8% compared to August 2024.
Compared to July 2025, prices of most khachapuri ingredients increased. Yeast (+13.5%), Cheese (+8.3%), Flour (+6.2%), Milk (+1.7%), and Butter (+1.6%) all rose, while Eggs (–2.9%) was the only ingredient to decline. The strong increases in cheese and flour—the two largest components of khachapuri—were the main drivers of the overall monthly index growth. Typically, as autumn approaches, dairy product prices rise due to the need for additional animal feed supplements.
On an annual basis, Cheese (+13.4%), Butter (+11.5%), and Flour (+9.0%) recorded the steepest increases, followed by Yeast (+5.3%) and Eggs (+4.2%). Milk was the only ingredient to decline year-on-year (–2.5%).
Regional month-to-month dynamics varied considerably: Batumi experienced the sharpest increase (+13.0%), driven by strong summer tourism demand. Tbilisi also recorded a notable rise (+8.9%), while Telavi (+0.1%) and Kutaisi (+0.3%) remained almost unchanged.
