In March, the Khachapuri Index experienced an overall monthly decline in value. The main contributor to this decrease was the price of cheese (-2.5%) and milk (-0.9%), which saw notable reductions compared to the previous month. This decline aligns with traditional seasonal trends in domestic fresh milk production, which typically increases in spring, leading to lower dairy prices. Additionally, the onset of Great Lent on March 3rd may have played a role in reducing the prices of cheese and milk products, as demand for these foods usually decreases during the period.
Regarding other khachapuri ingredients, most recorded monthly price declines, with flour (-0.8%), eggs (-0.8%), and yeast (-0.3%) experiencing slight deflation. The only exception was butter (+3.4%), which saw a notable price increase compared to the previous month.
