ცენტრალურ ევროპაში პროფესიული განათლების ტრადიცია ჯერ კიდევ შუა საუკუნეებში იღებს სათავეს. მაგალითად, მე-14 საუკუნის გერმანიაში 2 წელი უნდა ყოფილიყავით შეგირდი, გემუშავათ და გესწავლათ საცხობში ოსტატის ზედამხედველობის ქვეშ, რომ შემდეგ მცხობელად გემუშავათ. შეგირდობა სტანდარტიზებული იყო და, წარმატების შემთხვევაში, სრულდებოდა სერთიფიკატის გადაცემითა და მცხობელთა გილდიაში მიღებით.

Georgians have revealed themselves to have overall low levels of financial literacy. Only 6% of respondents to a new research survey were financially literate, which naturally negatively affects the economic situation in the country. ISET's Policy Institute, together with TNS and TBC Bank, conducted the first-ever large-scale survey on financial literacy in Georgia.

14 წლის წინ ამერიკელმა განათლების სპეციალისტებმა ვალერი ე. ლიმ და დავიდ ბურკამმა გამოაქვეყნეს უაღრესად პოპულარული და საკამათო ნაშრომი „უთანასწორობა საწყის ეტაპზე: სოციალური ფონით გამოწვეული განსხვავებები ბავშვების მიღწევებში, როდესაც იწყებენ სკოლას“ (Economic Policy Institute, 2002 წ.). სტატიის ავტორებმა იმუშავეს 16,000 ბავშვთან, რომლებიც 1998-1999 წლებში შევიდნენ საბავშვო ბაღში და გაიარეს ECLS-K მისაღები ტესტი, რომელიც ამოწმებდა ბავშვის წერა-კითხვისა და მათემატიკის საბაზისო უნარ-ჩვევებს.

Georgia's education system seems to be broken. It is no longer corrupt, which is good, but it does not deliver the quality that we all want and need. Our teachers are among the lowest paid in Georgia and in the world. Quality is an issue at all levels of education, starting with preschools and ending with graduate and post-graduate education.

ISET is proud to welcome Professor Avner Shaked, a regular visiting scholar and a member of our International Faculty Committee. This year Prof. Shaked will teach a Game Theory class in the first year of our Economics MA program, and Industrial Organization (IO) in the second year.
