Project Milestones: Start date: 01.06.2016 End Date: 30.09.2016

APRC is conducting research on livestock farm-enterprise models in Kakheti to better understand current arrangements and options in the livestock market system in the region.

In cooperation with the Market Opportunities for Livelihood Improvement (MOLI) project APRC studies the livestock farm-enterprise model in the Kakheti region.

The goal of this study is to better understand current arrangements and options in (re-) gaining size and competitiveness in livestock market systems in Kakheti. We look at different models already established (or just starting), and their perspectives in addressing deficiencies in the livestock market in the region. The models are characterized by the cooperation between farmers and various types of entrepreneurs. Cooperation models are economically viable, competitive, fair, and sustainable; creating win-win situations on all ends.

The results of this study will be presented on a business forum in Kakheti in August-September 2016.
