The USAID Economic Governance Program hosted a quarterly coordination meeting focused on Water Resource Management (WRM) reform on November 6th. The event brought together key stakeholders and USAID partners in economic growth and democratic governance to discuss progress and future initiatives.
The meeting featured presentations from experts, including Nino Beruashvili, USAID Economic Governance Deputy Chief of Party, who delivered opening remarks. Ana Burduli from ISET Policy Institute presented the ReforMeter overview of the WRM reform, while Kakha Bakhtadze from NGO Environment and Development addressed enforcement challenges at the municipal level.
Special attention was given to updates on WRM secondary legislation, presented by Khatuna Gogaladze from the Georgian Environmental Outlook. The agenda also included a timely discussion on COP29 opportunities in Baku, led by Jeanene Mitchell, Senior Transboundary Stakeholder Engagement Advisor from the USAID South Caucasus Regional Water Management Program.
The meeting concluded with insights into private sector partnerships in the water sector, presented by David Tsiklauri from USAID, followed by an open discussion.
