Dear ISET Сommunity, Friends and Colleagues,
It is with deep regret and sadness that ISET confirms that two of our beloved students, Mariam Kutelia and Ivlita Jibuti, became the victims of catastrophic flooding in Tbilisi on June 13th. The whole international community mourns for Georgia, but this news is particularly painful for ISET. It is a terrible tragedy that affected all of us. Life at ISET will never be the same.
With less than two weeks remaining before graduation, Mariam and Ivlita were studying together in Ivlita’s house when the flood struck shortly after midnight. Their classmates and staff have been gathered at the school ever since learning about the tragedy, trying to help rescuers to find the girls alive. Unfortunately, we have lost all hopes and the reality is very severe.
Even though it is a very emotional period for us, we feel the importance and necessity to take action. We are prepared to do all we can to commemorate Mariam and Ivlita and support their families as they endure this difficult time. We have established a fund through which we will be accepting donations in the memory of the girls. Some of the money gathered will be used to help their families. Additionally, we will establish a scholarship, named after Mariam and Ivlita, to support ISET’s future students and cherish the names of the remarkable students from the class of 2015.
