Back in October 2015, a team of ISET researchers visited Charity House Catharsis to donate food on World Food Day, celebrated around the globe on October 16th. Catharsis was founded in 1990 and provides daily dinner to 310 elderly in need. Although the major function of the charity house is to provide food, Catharsis also offers other services like medical assistance, a relaxation room, chapel, rehabilitation hall, library, and café.
October 16 is celebrated around the globe as World Food Day. On this day, volunteers from all countries step forward to inspire commitment towards ending hunger worldwide. In response to WFD’s official motto “when it comes to hunger, the only acceptable number in the world is zero”, researchers from ISET Policy Institute donated food items to Catharsis Georgia – a charitable organization that, among other services, feeds 310 elderly in need every day.
It is with deep regret and sadness that ISET confirms that two of our beloved students, Mariam Kutelia and Ivlita Jibuti, became the victims of catastrophic flooding in Tbilisi on June 13th. The whole international community mourns for Georgia, but this news is particularly painful for ISET. It is a terrible tragedy that affected all of us. Life at ISET will never be the same.
