Avner Shaked, a Guru of Industrial Organization Theory, Visits ISET
Wednesday, 20 April, 2016

ISET is proud to welcome Professor Avner Shaked, a regular visiting scholar and a member of our International Faculty Committee. This year Prof. Shaked will teach a Game Theory class in the first year of our Economics MA program, and Industrial Organization (IO) in the second year.

Prof. Shaked’s most recent academic post was with the Bonn University, Germany, where he has been teaching economic theory. He also serves as a visiting professor at the Centre for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute (CERGE- EI), in Prague. Since 1992 he has been a Fellow of the prestigious Econometric Society.

Avner arrived into economics from mathematics. He earned a Ph.D. degree in economics from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. However, he holds a B.Sc. degree in Mathematics and Physics, and an M.Sc. in Mathematical Logic. Since 1989 he has been working and teaching at premier academic institutions including Oxford University, and the London School of Economics.

Prof. Shaked’s research interests include bounded rationality, evolutionary game theory, learning theory, experimental game theory, theoretical industrial organization, and bargaining theory. When asked about his most important contribution to science, Avner directed us to Partnership, a paper he co-authored with Ilan Eshel, and which was published in the Journal of Theoretical Biology (no economics!) in November 2000.

Prof. Shaked's full CV is available here.

All his publications can be found here.
