Electricity Market Review

Electricity generation - relying mostly on Hydro Power Plants - has been increasing over the years, although not always at a rate sufficient to match demand increase, driven by rising econom
ic activity, vehicle electrification, and increased blockchain mining activities. Developed in 2017, the Electricity Market Review analyses the main trends and key events in Georgia's electricity market. It also monitors the consequences of all the changes in the electricity sector, including market liberalization and the introduction of incentive schemes for renewable energy.

In August 2018, Georgian power plants generated 985 mln. KWh of electricity. This represents a 5% decrease in total generation, compared to the previous year (in 2017, total generation in August was 1,034 mln. kWh). The decrease in generation on a yearly basis mainly comes from a decrease in hydropower and wind power generation (more details in the report below).

This represents a 2% increase in total generation, compared to the previous year (in 2017, total generation in July was 1,247 mln. kWh). The increase in generation on a yearly basis mainly comes from an increase in hydropower and wind power generation.

This represents a 6% increase in total generation, compared to the previous year (in 2017, total generation in June was 1,138 mln. kWh). The increase in generation on a yearly basis mainly comes from an increase in hydropower generation.

This represents a 6% increase in total generation, compared to the previous year (in 2017, total generation in May was 1,093 mln. kWh). The increase in generation on a yearly basis mainly comes from an increase in hydropower generation.

In April 2018, Georgian power plants generated 1,064 mln. KWh of electricity. This represents a 30% increase in total generation, compared to the previous year (in 2017, total generation in April was 817.2 mln. kWh). The increase in generation on a yearly basis mainly comes from an increase in hydro power generation.
