With EU financial and technical assistance, as well as training and education on cooperation and agribusiness, small farmers in Georgia are benefitting from economies of scale, cutting their production costs and increasing efficiency.

On the 18th of October, ISET Policy Institute together with its partner organizations: Georgian Farmers’ Association (GFA), Civil Development Agency (CiDA), Export Development Association (EDA), and Association Atinati presented a new project: Food and Agriculture SME Support Initiative (FASSI).

ევროკავშირი მხარს უჭერს სოფლის მეურნეობისა და სოფლის განვითარებას საქართველოში ENPARD-ის პროგრამის დახმარებით. პროგრამა ხორციელდება 2013 წლიდან და მისი მთლიანი ბიუჯეტი შეადგენს 102 მილიონ ევროს. ENPARD-ის ძირითადი მიზანი საქართველოში არის შეამციროს სიღარიბე სოფლად. პროგრამის პირველი ფაზის პრიორიტეტი სოფლის მეურნეობის განვითარების ხელშეწყობა იყო, ხოლო მეორე ფაზა მიზნად ისახავს სოფლად მცხოვრები ადამიანების ეკონომიკური განვითარების შესაძლებლობების გაზრდას.

On 14 July 2017, ENPARD implementing organization CARE and its partner ISET Policy Institute (ISET-PI), in cooperation with other ENPARD implementing partners (Oxfam, Mercy Corps, People in Need, and UNDP Adjara) presented the results of the ENPARD Cooperatives Survey, which assesses the performance of EU-supported cooperatives for the period 2014-2016.

Over the past 30 years, Georgia went through a remarkable roller-coaster transition from being one of the best performing USSR republics to a failed state to the top reformer on the post-Soviet space and thus demonstrating that change is possible. Georgia’s experience of fast-track development and modernization through international cooperation, radical deregulation, and trade liberalization carry important lessons learned for policymakers in other transition and developing nations.
