ISET Graduates Continue Pursuing Ph.D. Degrees Abroad

Each year top students from ISET receive exceptionally promising and appealing offers to continue their graduate education at some of the best universities in the world. ISET graduates have been pursuing their Ph.D.’s at top universities such as University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, Stanford University, New York University etc. 32 ISETers have been selected throughout the past 8 years. Another six ISET graduates have successfully continued the path towards their Ph.D. Degrees this year. With full support of ISET’s senior international faculty, they are currently engaged in the first year of their studies. Most of them have already done some of their own research being a part of ISET’s “Third Year Program” working with ISET-PI on policy projects relevant to the fields of their interest, contributing to the ISET Economist Blog and taking online math classes to get ready for the “boot camp” experience awaiting them in the US or Europe.

On February 4, 2014, Daniel Levy, professor of economics at Bar Ilan University and Emory University and member of ISET’s International Faculty Committee, presented his paper “Asymmetric Price Adjustment in the Small", (that he co-authored with Haipeng Chen, Sourav Ray, and Marc Bergen) to ISET professors, students and researchers.

Prof. Avner Shaked Talks about the Current Flaws of Economics

On December 4, ISET hosted a lecture by Professor Avner Shaked from the University of Bonn – one of the greatest modern game theorists who also delivers courses in game theory and industrial organizations at ISET. The talk was devoted to a serious flaw uncovered concerning famous economic journals the Quarterly Journal of Economics (QJE) and Econometrica.

The assignment problem is one of the most famous branches of operational research. The general problem concerns a situation whereby one has a number of tasks that should be divided among employees.

On February 22, 2013, Professor Michele Bernasconi (Università “CàFoscari”, Venice, Italy) presented his paper “Tax Evasion: Does fiscal pressure matter? Lessons from the behavioral economics”, which was co-authored by Luca Corazzini and Raffaello Seri, to ISET students, researchers, and faculty.
