In Georgia, a new law on “Water Resources Management" has been drafted, which involves significant and complex legislative changes. The country will have a new, unified system of managing water resources based on international approaches after the proposed law is implemented, satisfying the requirements set forth in the Association Agreement (AA) concluded with the European Union (EU).

In April 2023, the average cost of cooking one standard portion of Imeretian khachapuri stood at 5.99 GEL. This latest average price is 1.4% higher than in April 2022. Whereas in month-to-month developments, the price of a single khachapuri experienced a significant decline of 8.0% compared to the previous month, March 2023.

The focus of this policy brief is a hypothetical effect on poverty rates, particularly among women, following an increase in the minimum wage in Georgia.
