Within the framework of the Good Governance for Gender Equality in Georgia (GG4GEG) project, UN Women is collaborating with the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) and the ISET Policy Institute to conduct a comprehensive Gender Impact Assessment (GIA) of the Law on Civil Service in Georgia.

Both Russia and Ukraine are among the top five export destinations for Georgia. Ukraine accounted for 9.5 per cent of Georgia's exports in January 2022, while Russia accounted for 12.9 per cent (prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022).

The study was to determine an optimal minimum wage for workers in Georgia, and resulted in a recommended range of 250-350GEL per month, albeit referencing numerous factors that need to be considered.

On February 24th, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. This event not only marked the collapse of a painstakingly built global security architecture and destroyed the lives and livelihoods of millions of civilians in the heart of Europe, it also put the world on the brink of the largest nuclear, humanitarian, and ecological catastrophe since WWII.

The term “dollarization”, commonly used among academic economists and finance specialists, has already entered Georgians’ everyday vocabulary. Few people, however, understand what dollarization is, how it comes about and why they should care. Below we try to fill this gap, explaining some basic concepts and discussing why and how dollarization affects ordinary people’s lives.
