RECONOMY is a 7-year program for the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership that focuses on enabling women and young people, in particular, excluded and disadvantaged groups, to benefit from economic opportunities by inclusively and sustainably increasing their income and finding decent jobs. Its aims also include education & skills, policies & regulations, and business & financial services.

Business Confidence Index: recovery (continued)

For the 4th quarter of 2021, business confidence in Georgia decreased slightly (by 5.8 index points) and reached 30.6. The highest decrease in business confidence is observed in construction (-21.0), service (-15.3), and agriculture (-8.8) sectors. A negative change in BCI for Q4 2021 was driven by worsened future expectations and past performance.

Business Confidence Index: full speed ahead to economic recovery

For the third quarter of 2021, business confidence in Georgia improved significantly (by 34.7 index points) and reached 36.4. The increase in business confidence is observed in all sectors and is driven by optimistic future expectations and improved past performance in light of economic recovery and relaxed pandemic restrictions.

Lead ISET Policy Institute Economist participates in UNDP panel discussion for municipal development

We were thrilled to see Salome Gelashvili, head of the ISET-PI Agricultural Policy Research Center (APRC), actively participate in a UNDP Georgia online discussion. During the virtual roundtable (entitled Local Economic Development and Business Friendly Environment for Municipalities), a variety of notable international speakers, particularly utilizing Czech expertise, came together to consider business development, combatting the rural-urban divide, and the effect of COVID-19 on the informal sector.
