Presentation of Migration Findings of ISET-PI at Three Conferences in September

ISET Policy Institute presented research results on internal migration in Georgia at an international conference “Recent Migratory Processes and Europe: Challenges and Opportunities” that took place on September 29-30th in Tbilisi Biltmore Hotel. The presentation had already been given in the week before at a conference of the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics in Kyiv, Ukraine, and two weeks earlier at a workshop on regional economics held at the Ural Federal University in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

As part of a partnership arrangement under the “Good Jobs for Inclusive Growth” study, Yasya Babych of MPRC was invited to participate in an Interim workshop dubbed “Enabling Conditions for Inclusive Growth and Good Jobs: A Role for Development Partners” held on 15-16 September 2016 in Manila, the Philippines by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

ISET Hosts Competition Policy Workshop

On June 10, in cooperation with G4G USAID, ISET Policy Institute completed a 3-day workshop on Competition Policy. Eleven participants from the State Competition Agency, the Taxpayers Union (TPU), Georgian Lawyers for Independent Professions (GLIP), and ISET all attended the event.

ISET Researchers Discuss Georgia's Demographic Challenges

Georgia’s population is rapidly aging because of low fertility, improvements in the healthcare system, and labor migration. The challenges of living in an older society were discussed in a working group format as part of the “National Dialogue on Georgian Demographic Security Priorities”, April 18-19, which was attended by ISET-PI’s Maka Chitanava and Lasha Labadze. This UNFPA-supported dialog was initiated by the Georgian Parliament’s Healthcare and Social Policy Committee.
