Sunday, 11 May, 2025

ISET Policy Institute, as host for the technical secretariat of the Eastern Partnership Road Safety Observatory (EaP RSO), participated in Yerevan's Europe Day Info Fair on Saturday, May 10. A delegation from the EaP RSO Technical Secretariat, including ISET's local consultant for Armenia, Poghos Shahinyan, joined the event at the invitation of EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos.

The Europe Day celebration provided a strategic platform for the ISET Policy Institute and the EaP RSO team to showcase their road safety activities and policy work to a diverse audience, including representatives from the EU, Armenian authorities, civil society, media, and the general public. The event served as a key visibility point for introducing the Observatory's mission and activities.

Through ISET's involvement in the project, over 100 visitors were introduced to the Observatory's goals, current activities, and Armenia's collaborative work with other member countries to improve road safety data collection quality in line with best EU and international practices.

EU Ambassador to Armenia Vassilis Maragos expressed strong support for the Observatory's mission, acknowledging the valuable contribution of organizations like ISET Policy Institute to regional road safety improvements.

During the visit, Tamar Sulukhia, Head of the EaP RSO Technical Secretariat, met with Ms. Kristine Ghalechyan, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, and Ms. Arevhat Poghosyan, Head of the Road Policy Division. They discussed priority areas, including school zone safety to protect vulnerable child pedestrians and Armenia's progress toward adopting Road Safety Audit rules, which will introduce audit accreditation mechanisms to make roads safer from a Safe System perspective.

This participation underscores the ISET Policy Institute's commitment to contributing expertise and research capacity to EU-funded regional initiatives that enhance road safety across the Eastern Partnership countries.
