and gas. Believing in the importance of the energy sector for Georgia, ISET Policy Institute will provide quarterly Energy Sector Reviews. The series reports we will review and analyze the main trends and developments characterizing the energy sector of Georgia and present the main events that had been taking place during the reporting period, which we believe will affect the evolution of the energy sector.

In the third and fourth quarters of 2022, Georgian power plants generated 4,193 mln. and 3,359 mln. kWh of electricity, respectively (Figure 1). This represents a +11.4% and -3.5% change in total generation compared to the corresponding periods of the previous year (in 2021, the total generation in Q3 was 3,766 mln. kWh and 3,479 mln. kWh in Q4).

This represents a 16.0% and 3.2% decrease in total generation compared to the corresponding periods of the previous year (in 2020, the total generation in Q1 was 2,893 mln. kWh and in Q2 it was 2,797 mln. kWh).
