Between July 17 and 18, Maka Chitanava, the Deputy Head of the EEPRC, attended the 3rd Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Think Tanks Development Forum in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Representatives from university think tanks, governments, and business circles came from every CAREC member country.
On June 27, 2014, Georgia and the EU signed an Association Agreement (AA) and its integral part – the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA). On July 1st, 2016, DCFTA fully entered into force. Until then, trade between Georgia and the EU was regulated by the Special Incentive Arrangement for Sustainable Development and Good Governance that contained a Generalized System of Preferences+ (GSP+) agreed to in 2005.
The average cost of cooking one standard Imeretian Khachapuri in June 2018 stood at 3.15 GEL, which is 0.7% lower month-on-month (compared to the previous month), and 2% higher year-on-year (compared to the same month of last year).
The GEO real property market grew by 10.1% in Q2 2018, in comparison with Q1 2018. The annual increase was more pronounced at 22.7% (YoY), in comparison with Q2 2017. TBS, with a 44.0% share in total sales in Q2 2018, dominated the GEO real property market.
In June 2018, Georgian power plants generated 1,208 mln. KWh of electricity. This represents a 6% increase in total generation, compared to the previous year (in 2017, total generation in June was 1,138 mln. kWh). The increase in generation on a yearly basis mainly comes from an increase in hydropower generation.
