Back in the summer of 2021, the Government of Georgia (GoG) worked on a 10-year strategic framework for different sectors of the economy including agriculture. In July 2021, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced the targets for the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture (MEPA) under the government’s 10-year-strategic framework.

ISET is happy to announce that Giorgi Nozadze was promoted to a new position at the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia (MoA). Giorgi graduated from ISET with the class of 2011. He started his professional career working in the risk management department of a commercial bank. In the summer of 2012 he was employed by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat) as a database analyst. His cooperation with MoA started in January 2014 as a chief specialist in the Policy and Analysis Department. After a successful year of work, he was promoted to the head of the Statistics and Analysis Division and now he performs his duties equipped with the deep knowledge and experience.

Georgian Agriculture: Beacon or Red Lantern?

On November 24, the ISET Policy Institute hosted an ENPARD workshop representing all four consortia (CARE, OXFAM, Mercy Corps, and PIN). The workshop featured Michaela Garguláková from People In Need (PIN) who talked about the Monitoring and Evaluation system and gave a presentation about the monitoring indicators of the ENPARD project. She also talked about Open Data Kit which is an innovative data collection tool that facilitates data collection process in the field. In addition, Lasha Lanchava from the ISET team presented his proposal aimed at evaluating the impact of ENPARD grants on cooperative behavior of firms and firm performance.

Tea Cooperatives' Round Table Discussion

On June 3 2016, a Round Table Discussion of Tea Cooperatives was held in Kutaisi. This was the third event in a series of dialogues about agriculture and rural development in Georgia organized by ISET Policy Institute (ISET-PI) in partnership with CARE International, the Regional Development Association and the Georgian Farmers Association, with support from the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).
