ISET presents Agrotourism RIA findings to the stakeholders
Thursday, 25 November, 2021

On 18 November, ISET’s Agricultural Policy Research Center presented the findings of its Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) on the draft law on agrotourism and thereafter discussed the associated socio-economic benefits and the costs.

The draft law was prepared by the Parliamentary Agrarian Committee in collaboration with the Georgian Farmers Association, and with financial support from UN Women. It intends to create a legal basis for agritourism businesses in Georgia and to contribute to rural development through the economic diversification of activities in rural areas.

The event was hosted by the Georgian Farmers Association and attended by various sectoral associations and NGOs, as well as private sector representatives. The participants examined the need, and motivation, to adopt the draft law, as well as the current interrelated challenges. As a result of the meeting, the contributors agreed on future steps and how to proceed with the draft law on agritourism.
