ISET's Professor Pignatti published by prestigious policymaking platform

Christopher Hitchens, one of the greatest public intellectuals of the last four decades, famously said 'The only way for any country to get out of poverty is the empowerment of women'. Everyone at ISET would no doubt agree with him – Professor Norberto Pignatti in particular, whose latest publication examines how increasing women's participation in the labor force is important for sustainable economic development in transition countries. Professor Pignatti, one of ISET's most prolific faculty members, had his research paper published by IZA World of Labor, an online platform dedicated to labor market issues. The organization seeks to support evidence-based policymaking and increase general awareness of labour market matters – most recently, IZA has focused on the potential impact and outcomes of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On November 26, the Agricultural and Rural Policy Research Center (APRC) of the ISET Policy Institute conducted a third stakeholder working meeting under the auspices of a project entitled “Information quality standards for the participants and beneficiaries of the Agricultural Knowledge and Information System (AKIS)”. The project is supported by the UNDP, and implemented by the Environmental Information and Education Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (EIEC), along with the ARPRC itself. The main objective of the working meeting was to overview AKIS in Georgia and discuss the information quality standards for the participants and beneficiaries of this system.

ISET Library becomes official depository library for Asian Development Bank

Since the foundation of the ISET, it has had a strong relationship with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The ADB and ISET have further strengthened their relationship by signing a Memorandum of Agreement, specifically between the ADB and the ISET Library, under the ADB's Depository Library Program. Under the Memorandum, ISET's Library will collaborate with the ADB to make ADB digital publications available in the library’s digital catalogue for library users, the general public, as well as academics, personal and other constituencies, and nongovernmental organizations. The ADB will distribute the latest digital publications, which will be updated on a quarterly basis, including public awareness-raising materials.

ISET Policy Institute’s team starts RIA training course with USAID

Starting from October 26, the ISET Policy Institute team, in cooperation with the USAID Economic Governance Program, started an online training course in Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) for public servants. The aim of the training is to provide participants from the selected institutions a clear understanding of the purpose of RIA, its structure and implementation, and how it works within the context of Georgian. The course will also develop and strengthen the participants’ technical skills that are necessary to conduct standard RIAs in accordance with the RIA methodology approved by the Government of Georgia in January 2020. The training is organized around specific RIA steps, included practical group activities every week, and will last for a total of seven weeks.
